BSOD Related to EX64.SYS

I have been getting several BSOD's related to EX64.SYS which is located in the VirusDefs folder.

I am using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. This started on the 17th, stopped for a bit and then happened again twice early this morning.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: BSOD Related to EX64.SYS

Please provide us the information that the blue screen error message gives you. The structure of the error message includes two or more of the following items:

  • A STOP message with a set of numbers, such as 0x0000001E (0xc0000006, 0xA011C102, 0x00000000, 0xA011C102)
  • A specific error, such as IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
  • The name of the file that is involved with the problem, such as Ex64sys

This will help to find out the exact reason for the blue screen in your computer. To find out if you have any threats, you can try creating Norton Bootable Recovery tool in CD, and use it:

http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/nbrt.asp?lcid=1033

You can also try to run Norton Power Eraser tool:

Check if it detects any threats and if it does, please provide us the filename and other details. Don't fix any files now, you can fix those after getting confirmation in this thread.
