Hi Martin,

Welcome to Norton Community.

You can download Norton Antivirus 2011 from this link http://www.symantec.com/redirects/norton/norton_com/nav11/ . You can use same product key that you are using after renewal in your existing product.

Let us know if you need more help.

Thanks.

Hello Martin100

Here is the free customer chat link for the UK. If you have any problems, please have the name of the product ready and your key and they can help you if necessary. The free chat program is usually quicker and cheaper than trying to call them on the phone or writing them. Thanks.

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

If you follow the link you can over install the latest version.  Does your product have a "map" at the bottom or a CPU meter at the side? If so you have NAV11 if not you have either NAV10 or 09.  If your product have a "flip" screen you have NAV10.  TO find out your version info open up the product-->support-->about

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

Martin,

There are thre Norton products for consumers that protect you from viruses:

Norton AntiVirus

Norton Internet Security

Norton 360

So the first question is which of those do you have?

The second question is which generation/version do you have and the way to find that is to open up the main screen and click on Help or Help & Support or Support up in the top right corner and then hold the mouse pointer or click on About

You will find a lot of code numbers and one of them is Version ID and is in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn

That's the second piece of information we need.

Then we can give you detailed instructions for your version.

My guess is that you have Norton Internet Security since that is common installed on new computers but if by any chance you have Norton 360 installed we need to know if it is the Standard version which has 2 GB of free online storage or the Premier which has 25 GB of free online storageversion.

Sorry it's so complicated but we need to get it right or you'll have problems!

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

Hello Martin

We have to find out which program you have installed now so we can find out if you bought the correct renewal of the program also. Once we know which program you have installed, then we can tell you how to proceed. Does your Norton product now have a fire wall in it other than the Windows firewall? If it does, then we will know. You can also look in Program Listings. That should tell you the name of the Norton product installed also. Thanks.

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

Flo,

Don't all the programs give their names either on the main screen or on Help ?

I've only got NIS 2011 at present which does, so I can't check 2010 any more nor N360.

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

I don't think they do. Here is the screenshot I took of NIS10: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nis2010mainscreen.png.

Plus, I'm sure most of us know the version straight off the bat just by looking at its GUI.

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

Tywun,

That image you posted and linked to shows the name Norton Internet Security at the top .....

I asked two questions: the name of the application and the version of it and I know that I gave the correct way to learn the version ID .....

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

Hello Hugh

Yes, I believe all the products should show their name on the front of the program and the version number should be in the help about location..

Thanks Flo

I wasn't sure about some of the earlier ones. It seemed better to ask the OP directed questions than trying to deduce form what it looked like!

Don't all the programs give their names either on the main screen or on Help ? I was replying to this. The product does not give its version name ie Norton internet security 2010 either on the front page or in the about section. Former Norton internet security clearly state their year name on the main gui

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

HI Tywin7,

Unfortunately it only gives the information from Support > About and from this you can derive the year. Version 16.xx is 2009, 17.xx is 2010 and 18.xx is 2011.

To avoid misunderstanding Name is Norton Internet Security / Norton AntiVirus / Norton 360 .....

Version is not a name but is a number which is in the format nn.nn.nn.nnn and is frequently referred to as Version ID if only to differentiate from the other "codes" that are on the About screen. From the Version number we know how to deduce the year as AllenM has shown you.

That is why I asked the OP the original question in two parts: Name and Version ID -- this is unambiguous and I believe more straightforward than asking if it looks like this or like that.

In the case of Norton 360 it is thoroughly confusing since unless it has been changed the ID on the downloaded file uses a different code to the Version number. But since this is the NIS/NAV Forum that's someone else's problem ....

Re: How do I use my 3 user licences?

What I'm saying that is in old NIS, the name and date is clearly stated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:NIS2006.jpg (NIS2006)

Starting from 2007, the version info is no longer stated on the front page.

I've done some rough edit on the main program using paint and I've slip strim the date version into the product.
