live update not working

I upgraded to norton 360 version 4 recently.  After installing, live update doesn't work.   It tells me to check my internet connection. The connection is fine.  Also norton 360 worked just fine before the upgrade. Should I do a complete uninstall?  Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I already downloaded malware bytes and ran it.  Live update still doesn't work.

You can try reinstalling by following the instructions below and using the Norton Removal Tool (provided Norton 360 is the only Norton product installed on your computer):

Depending on the edition (Standard or Premier) of Norton 360 you have got, please download the latest installation package from the appropriate link below and save it to your desktop.

Norton 360 Standard Edition version 4 (English)

Norton 360 Premier Edition version 4 (English)

Download and save the Norton Removal Tool to your desktop from over here:

NOTE: The Norton removal tool will wipe out any other Norton products installed on your computer, so only use the removal tool if Norton 360 is the only product on your computer.

Also, please keep your Norton 360 product key handy, just in case. You can get it from your Norton account over here:

If you use Identity Safe, please back up your Identity Safe data beforehand:

Please disconnect from the internet and run the removal tool twice, rebooting after each run. Then install Norton 360 and connect to the internet when it wants to connect to the web. The removal tool leaves your product key behind, and Norton 360 should pick up your key automatically.

Let us know the exact message you gets when you run LiveUpdate. To get the complete error message, click on View details. Also, you can try using One Click Support from Norton program and check whether it detects any problem.

Ok

I downloaded remover and ran it twice and rebooted twice.

I downloaded norton 360 standard ver.4 and installed it.

Now it says I'm protected with a green checkmark, but my definitions update was 110 days ago(not true) and I have 15 days left in my subscription(not true).

I clicked  live update and it says that it can't connect to the norton live update server, check your internet connection. The connection is good since I'm sending this reply ;-)

BTW,

I clicked one click support.  Sonar Definitions error : fixed.  I rebooted, nothing has changed, green checkmarks across the board, tho.

Check whether your system date is set correctly and then try to update the virus definitions using the Intelligent Updater.

After that, run a Comprehensive Scan, let the scan finish, and then restart the computer. Check the LiveUpdate again.

Hey, that worked!  I downloaded intelligent updater and ran it.  The definitions updated and my subscription status is also up to date.  Thanks for all your help.

Well, it worked once. I clicked live update and it still won't connect to the norton live update server. I tried running the inteeligent updater again. It says that it detected a norton product and updated it but the definitions update is still 10 days ago.

Have you tried synchronizing your account? Did you pick the correct version of the intelligent updater?

I would suggest that you run a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes. This is a good on demand scanner that will not interfere with your Norton product.

Download the free version, install and update then run a FULL scan. After the scan completes you should post the logs back to this thread.

It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because some malware creators have large lists of sites that they block. Please be careful to down load the correct program ----the FREE version of MALWAREBYTES
