Services.exe Is Denied Access to ccSvcHst.exe

I have NAV 2011 on Windows 7 Professional x64.

Every time I start my computer, NAV takes this action:

Actor: C:\Windows\System32\Services.exe

Target: C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Antivirus\Engine\18.1.0.37\ccSvcHst.exe

Action: Access Thread Data

Reaction: Unauthorized access blocked

A full scan by NAV and NPE reveals no malware infections.

Why does this happen every time I start Windows, and how do I stop it?

Hello Bulldoggy

This is nothing to worry about. It is just Tamper Protection protecting your NAV from getting attacked. It allows window files to get so close and then it stops it from getting too close. It will just log these events, but it poses no security problems at all.

Tamper protection allows the application or service to do whatever it needs to do.  It just won't allow it to change Norton files.

So it's 'normal' for Windows 7 to want to somehow access ccSvcHst?

Reminds me of some women I used to date.

Almost eveything on the machine has to access Norton for one thing or another.

I get the message...Windows and NAV are simply doing what they were designed to do. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for everyone's help.
