Support Soft Inc???

I noticed in my manage add-ons in my IE7 under "add-ons that run without requiring permission"

two items that come from Support Soft Inc that seem to indicate some connection to symantec. These two items are located in

C:|ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\SymantecShared\SupportControls

Name

Symantec Configuration Class     Active X control    tgctlcm.dll  version  6.9.2894.0     digitally signed by support soft inc

also listed as Symantec User helper

Symantec User helper                  Active X control   sshelper.exe  version   6.9.2894.0 digitally signed by support soft inc

are these legit symantec/Norton Items?

I use NAV2008. Originally I had a trial version of NIS 2007 that came with my computer.

Hi NY1986,

These add-ons are legitimate and would have been required for using the Norton Online Scan or support options from within your Norton Product.

makes sense since I did an online Norton scan about 3 weeks ago. Thanks Phil

so support soft is something owned by Norton?

I don't know, but it would not be uncommon for a company to use third party software to enable some online applications to run.

Hi NY1986,

We use SupportSoft for a few things in the product, so this appears to be legit.

You mean for the Norton online scan? Or for NAV2008?
