uninstalling norton from new laptop

I just purchased a new Toshiba laptop with windows 7 and it has norton already on it although I have not activated it. My problem is I bought the laptop so I could get Dish Internet with internet provider WildBlue and my 18 month contract gives me the virus protection of F-secure free and I am trying to install it.  F-secure has tried uninstalling the norton but has not been successful in doing this. I do not want to use Norton since it is only a 60 day trial; and would like to remove it totally in hopes then I can get the F-secure installed. How do I uninstall the unactivated Norton from my new laptop without screwing things up?

Welcome friendorfoe. Since it has never been activated you should be able to uninstall it from uninstall programs in the control panel. If you have any problems download and run the Norton Removal Tool.  NRT
