VERY Slow ATT Yahoo email... Due to ccPxySvc.exe???

It takes me about ten minutes to open each email on ATT Yahoo, even those as small as 4k.  When I check Task Manager, ccPxySvc is using 99% of the cpu.  This started in mid-July and I see ccPxySvc was updated on  07/08/2008.  What can I do to fix this?

Any information is appreciated.

Thank you.

In order to better understand the issue, please let us know the operating system and service pack on your system, as well as the Norton software you have installed, including the full version. Thanks!

Me too, had no problem for years, just installed an update from Norton on or around 10/08/2008.

Suddenly ccPxySvc.exe is hogging 99% of my CPU and slowing down IE (7) enormously.

I'm running Windows XP SP2.

This issue is also happening to me.  I am running WinXP Home Edition, Service Pack 2.  I have Norton AntiVirus 2003 installed.  It came pre-installed on my Sony Vaio laptop.  When I read the "About" screen in the Norton program, I see this information:

Version: 9.12.03b

In Internet Explorer, when I try to login to Yahoo mail, my CPU is maxed out by ccPxySvc.exe.

When I do an on-line search, it seems that a lot of people are having this problem.  Disabling the Norton Internet Security does seem to resolve the issue.

We are currently at Norton AntiVirus 2009...have you considered upgrading to the latest version? Since you are using an older version, you unfortunately are not eligible for the free update to NAV 2009. While I don't know if this specific problem is fixed in later version, I know that many issues have been fixed in the versions since 2003. Thanks!

Re: VERY Slow ATT Yahoo email... Due to ccPxySvc.exe???

I use Norton's Anti-Virus 2003 and Norton's Personal Firewall 2003 with a Window 2000 Pro operating system on an older Dell computer. I have seen the ccpxysvc.exe program essentially take over the CPU (ca. 100%) on some Internet pages, including some of those at ATT SBC Yahoo web sites. The only solution seems to be to move to a web page which does not cause this problem and wait for the CPU to recover in several minutes or to reboot the computer, which is usually faster.

Norton Anit-Virus 2009 is not a solution to the problem for those of us still using Windows 2000. Norton's newer versions of their antivirus program no longer support Windows 2000--understandable, but regrettable.

Re: VERY Slow ATT Yahoo email... Due to ccPxySvc.exe???

Hi there,

I've been using Norton Internet Security 2003 for ages now and just recently I've been suffering from the same issue where CCPXYSVC.exe takes up 100% of the CPU for several minutes.

For me, the main website it affects is Facebook.  Everything else is okay, not that my PC or internet connection is particularly fast anyway.

After a lot of experimentation, I've discovered how to get around the problem.

Go into the Norton Internet Security configuration screen and select the "Ad Blocking" item.  Click the "Configure" button and on the resulting screen un-tick the "Turn On Ad Blocking" option.

Having done this, restart Internet Explorer and try the websites that previously gave you a problem.

When I use Facebook from now on, although I can still see the CCPXYSVC exe running, it takes only a small percentage of the CPU up now.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Also, this has fixed my long running problem I've had with YouTube.

For ages now, when I try and use YouTube, I simple get the message "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player".  Neither is true - I have Javascript turned on and I do have the latest version of Flash Player yet still that error persists.

Since turning off the Ad Blocking option, YouTube now works fine!

I also have been using Norton 2003 Antivirus and Firewall for a long time. I had the same ccpxysvc problem as you and the other folks. Your solution worked like a charm.
