What to do with viruses in quarantine?

I have a couple of viruses sitting in quarantine.  I have been using an older version of Norton (Anti-Virus 2004) and want to update myself to Internet Security 2009.  When I try to run the new program it says I have to delete the old one.  If I delete the old one what happens to the things in quarantine?  Are they going to be set free on my computer??    There is something called W32.Bacalid!inf and Bloodhound.Exploit.193.

Thanks for your help.

When you remove the Norton AntiVirus 2004 from Add or Remove programs. you will receive a message asking "whether you wish to delete the quarantied items". Select Yes and proceed then.
