What does "Disk Optimization" really do?
So, I started running Disk Optimization by itself yesterday afternoon. I let it run at night thinking it would be finished in the morning, I even checked the box to shut down when it was finished. Well, I check my computer and it has been running for 15 hours and still going. Also, it is on a laptop, my hard drive is barely warm. I don't know if this is a good thing or not. You would think that if something so intensive as Disk Optimization was running for 15 hours on a hard drive it would get pretty hot. So, I did a check with Auslogics Disk Defrag and my hard drive is 29% fragmented, that is way too much. I did a defrag with that and it could only get it 1.5% less fragmented. What is Norton Disk Optimization doing? Is it actually making my drive more fragmented just to make it appear faster? Which it definitaly does not seem to be working any faster. Actually, even after stopping Disk Optimization my hard drive is still being constantly accessed, and I am not running any other programs other than my web browser. Seems a little bit "off" to me.
