A new release of jre #188.8.131.52 on July 30 2011 for more info and download go to http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/ and select either the 32 bit or 64 bit ALF60
It seems Oracle has not yet released Officially this version. See here http://www.java.com/en/download/ie_manual.jsp?locale=en for 32-bit IE & http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie-64bit.jsp?locale=en for 64-bit IE. So this may be not working properly or may be still BETA version.
HI MehulBhai Oracle seems to be not updating the main site of ther download site as if you go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java//javase/downloads/index.html you arrive at the jre 184.108.40.206 info/download site. I installed the jre 220.127.116.11 on saturday july 1st. from majorgeeks.com sometimes the download sites get the updates first before the progam devlopers update there main sites.
You are right but the update is not happening from Java Control Panel too. It reports that I have the latest version in all the machine I have. I'll try this suggestion of yours.
HI MehulBhai I had the same thing happen to me so I uninstalled the old version and then downloaded the new version and installed the new version. I use the I obit progam remover to uninstall the old jre as it seems to do a better uninsatall than the windows uninstaller.
Oracle say it is for testing only for developers and will be released for common users for upgrade later.
It's always a good idea when recommending software to look into it beforehand so that users are not unintentionally installing products that are possibly problematic. Nice job MehulBai.
HI That is the frist time that I have run into this problem with java update if you noted that this update is the frirst time that java has done it this way. with the notice that it was not released for general down load. A sight note that firefox 6.0 is updateing through is builtin updater 2.3 mb in size but when you try to use it it does not install the update. so you have to download the full ff6.0. program I am aware of the release date of aug 16 for the official release so use caution. ALF60
Strange thing is that Java 7 was released since JULY but still haven't made its way over to the java.com site.
Also, some java programs, such as Secunia causes Internet Explorer 9 under Win7 to crash. Java7 works OK in XP, so I'm keeping it there. Reverted to version 26 in Win7 machine.
Is "Java Runtime Environment 8.0 build 25 (64-bit)" safe for Win 7 Pro?
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Hi frumenti welcome to the Norton community. JRE 8.0 b 25 should be OK on windows 7 pro as the list that I found show it as being compatible .Just make sure you watch the install windows for ad on downloads .NOTE that I have uninstalled all JRE from my computers and have not have any problems unless you need to use JRE you my want to do the same thing. If you want to get the download go here http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and select the version you need. If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers....ALF.
Java has been known in the past to be vulnerable to malware.
I don't have it on either of my machines, so my suggestion would be if you don't NEED it, don't install it.
