Iolo System Mechanic

I use Iolo System Mechanic (not the Pro version) on my computers. When I updated my Norton Internet Security to the latest 19.2.0.10 version, it would nmot install unless I removed System Mechanic. What is up with that? I want System Mechanic on my computers because it has a great set if tools to keep my computer functioning. This is my choice and it seems that you are writing software updates that excludes your compitation. Please let me know how to fix this. Thank you, Frank

You can carry on using Sytem Mechanic providing you ensure that none of its' real time scanning " functions are running , as these will interfere with the efficient running of NIS 2012 !

I am currently using the newest release of SysMech without any problems at all .I posted info and screenshots in a previous thread on this subject which can be found here   http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/conflict-with-system-mechanics/m-p/615395#M187251

Follow the steps and you will find that NIS and Iolo will live happily together ...Any further info or specific issue you may want clarifying ...Just let us know ....

Re: Iolo System Mechanic

System Mechanic Free is a joke. CCleaner is far superior and COMPLETELY FREE. Most of the features in System Mechanic Free are locked.

Hi NAHybrid

With all due respect to you ......There is a "Standard Version "  of Iolo System Mechanic and it isn't free ..The current version is Ver . 10.7.6 ...is paid for , and is fully functional in all departments!

The Pro version has added elements and costs more than the Standard option !

The original posters query was for help and advice regarding carrying on using his System Mechanic alongside NIS !

I agree ......Ccleaner is an excellent tool and I use it on another of my machines ...but Sys Mech has "paid for " functions that Ccleaner doesn't have ...and for those of us that wish to use it , it does those jobs well !

Like any additional optimization software ...certain functions may need configuring to co exist along with "real time " scans ...and some provided functions are best left alone altogether , but many tools in SysMech work without conflict  ...and when correctly applied ..they do the job well !

You have every right to your opinion that SysMech is a joke ..... .... However....the purpose of this thread was to help Frank with his query , that's all  No doubt he'll have his own opinions too !

Re: Iolo System Mechanic

I use the paid for standard version and have no problems at all. The more expensive Pro has real time virus/spyware software and that is where the cofusion lies.

CraigGateway (NV73); Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit; NIS 2013 (20.2.0.19); IE 10; Chrome (24.0.1312.52);Tune Up Utilities 2013; System Mechanic (11.1.1.2)
