Can someone tell me how to fix this problem. It keeps coming up saying Norton Confidential has crashed.

There is a problem with the Identity Protection add-on (which I believe is the renamed Confidential) and Norton are working on a fix.
As a workaround if you can go into your browser tools / Manage Add-ons and disable the Internet Protection (NIP) that should stop the crashes until this is fixed.
If not, tell us what browser, Norton Product and versions of Windows you are using.
I too have same problem...browser is Chrome and version 21.0.1180.79 m
We have released a patch for this issue. In order to get this patch, Please run live update until it shows "Your Norton product now has latest protection updates" and Restart the computer whenever it requires for a reboot, then check the issue again.

This has just started giving me trouble. I ran the updates and rebooted. I am using Chrome 21.0.1180.89

Could you provide the exact scenario in which you are facing this issue.
E.g.. Is it happening while visiting any specific sites?

I have done all the things you recommend except disabling it. Isn't there anything else you can do? You have always been quick to fix any of these types of problems. Hopefully you can do this one too!!!

If you are referring to disabling the Norton extension as the solution for you, it's a risky decision. By doing so, you also disable the anti-phishing technology that the Norton toolbar uses for Identity Safe and safe browsing. If you unknowingly went to a fraudulent shopping site, where you would enter sensitive information, you would not be protected.
Ensure your Chrome version is the latest ... 22.0.1229.92.
My computer also gets really slow when watching youtube videos. It will always say "norton confidential has crashed" what should i do?

Same here, been searching everywhere... cannot do anything on google chrome so i had to disable Norton tollbar for now until a fix is made... just browsing my trusted sites atm...
I kept having this same problem - it was almost as bad as having a virus!! I'm happily now free of this problem. On this page, click on Support at the top, and click on Live Chat. From there, with your permission, a Symantec advisor will remotely control your computer and get rid!! Did this just now and am very happy - it was so easy. Hope this helps.
I currently am using Google Chrome version 23.0.1271.97 however my Norton Confidential STILL continues to crash every now and then. It doesn't happen often, only like once every few weeks. It happens as soon as I log on, and load up Google Chrome, takes ages to load my home page (whereas most times it is quick and doesn't crash) then says that it stopped working. I close Google chrome and wait a couple minutes, load up chrome again but the same happens, the only way I can get on the internet when this happens is to log out, then log in again and it's all fine, however this is an annoyance. Please is there any way that this can stop happening without disabling it?
I have the same problem. My problem is always during Boot-Up of computer. I have not noticed it from Chrome, but I don't use it that much. But, lately most of the time I boot my computer up in the morning, it won't do anything because of the "Norton Confidential Crash". I have a brand new computer, Windows 7 with all the bells and whistles. I wonder if I made a bad choice of purchasing Norton Internet Security??
The only thing that I have got to fix it, is just shutdown and reload. Sometimes that fixes it. But, that is a real pain. So, now I am just leaving the computer on all the time.
I don't have Norton Live Updates, or least I can't find it. I have Norton Internet Security. How do I update it to fix the problem with the patch.
Mine happens at Boot Up only. It won't let me do anything via the Browser. I can NOT access the internet until I re-boot and reload my computer.
I looked at my Add-Ons, and I don't have that one. I have: Norton Toolbar, Norton Identity Protection, and Norton Vulnerability Protection. Any of those I should disable??
