Desktop Shortcut

Upgrading top NIS 2013 removed my old desktop shortcut for NIS and did not give me a new one.  How do I create this?  It does not appear to be a simple shortcut

2013 does not create a desktop shortcut, nor does it include the desktop gadget.

To create the NIS desktop shortcut:

- Open the "Windows Start" menu,

- Open the "All Programs" menu,

- Locate and open the Norton Internet Security program folder in the displayed list,

- Right-click (important that you Right-Click, not Left-Click) and hold while dragging the Norton Internet Security

icon out and over an available clear, unobstructed region of the desktop,

- Release the right mouse button and left-click "Create shortcut here" from the popup menu.

- You can now left-click/drag the newly created desktop icon from its current position to where you want it on the desktop.

Re: Desktop Shortcut

Too early in the morning...

I LEFT clicked and dragged it to the desktop. It looks like it's now located on my desktop and NOT where it was!

Is there a way to fix this so I can go thru the process again and RIGHT click and bring the icon only to my desktop?

I had the same issue of no desktop shortcut after upgrading.

Thanks all better now after following the posted instructions!

Easiest way to put the accidentally moved shortcut back where it belongs and at the same time retain the desktop icon -

- Left-Click the "Windows Start" menu button,

- Left-Click the "All Programs" menu,

- Locate the Norton Internet Security program folder in the displayed list and Right-Click it,

- Left-Click "Open" from the displayed popup menu (this will open a window on the desktop containing

  the other remaining Norton shortcuts),

- Right-Click and hold while dragging the Norton Internet Security icon from the desktop into the open window,

- Release the right mouse button and Left-Click "Copy here" from the popup menu,

- If you receive a "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy to this folder" message, click the

"Continue" button and if asked, enter the necessary admin-level user account and password credentials,

- Close the the window containing the Norton shortcuts.

That's it!

At this point you should still have the Norton shortcut icon on your desktop and a duplicate Norton shortcut icon should be back in its proper place in the Norton start menu folder.

Kind Regards,

John

Re: Desktop Shortcut

That worked - thanks!

I liked the old icon created on the desktop...wich they had not changed that. Now I click the Norton folder on the desktop. I just know one day I am going to open up the folder and accidentally click on "Uninstall Norton Internet Security"....I've done that before with Revo Uninstaller...and uninstalled the uninstaller!

Understood...

Glad to hear that you were able to get the icons successfully sorted...

If you are talking about the gadget - it is not available in the latest vesion of Norton.
