Firefox Bug: Norton add-ons trigger Firefox 18 password manager prompts

Firefox Bug: Norton add-ons trigger Firefox 18 password manager prompts

When using Norton add-ons with Firefox 18.0 release the add-ons will cause Firefox's password manager to switch from disabled to enabled and prompt you to save log-ins during each login with or without actually using the Norton Identity Safe feature. The Firefox password manager setting cannot be turned off while Norton add-ons are enabled. Disabling Norton add-ons rectifies the problem, but is unacceptable. I ran Live Update and it didn't seem to help the problem after restarting everything. This is quite annoying, will a fix be attempted by Symantec?

Can you try Senthil's instructions again? I had to read carefully the first time I read the instructions.

It did solve the issue for me an the others in the thread Senthil posted in.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but you have an older toolbar (I have 2013.2.3.1). Again, may have nothing to do with your issue but it is something that stood out.

The toolbar version differences are because you are running a 2013 version of NIS and Inseven has 2012 (version19.x.x.x)

Re: Firefox Bug: Norton add-ons trigger Firefox 18 password manager prompts

I'm told to back up IDS, in preperation for what??

I have a key for 2013 NIS but don't want to use until my remaining 2 months run out. Pretty sure they don't stack, at least not with trials... I've got a 1 year 2012 at the moment, again with 2 months left. What are my options?

Re: Firefox Bug: Norton add-ons trigger Firefox 18 password manager prompts

If you are refering to my signature, I am trying to remind users to back up their Identity Safe data if they use that feature. If you have a problem with your Norton Installation, sometimes it needs to be fully uninstalled before reinstalling. The Identity safe backup just ensures you are able to keep using this feature.

If you have a new key, it is best to wait until you have one or two days remaining. If you renew your current product now, you will lose your remaining time.

With only one or two days remaining just click on Renew on the main User Interface, and click on the link for I have a key or code. You do not have to upgrade the product unless you want to.

You may run into a problem with the 2013 key not working for the 2012 version. This is a known issue and all you have to do is contact Norton Support and they will give you a key that will work. Chat is usually the best way to do this.   www.norton.com/chat

Hi Inseven,
I checked the version of NIS 19.9.0.9
The buttons really wrong settings Identity Safe.

Disable browser password manager - yes

Disable browser password manager - no

Set as shown in the second screenshot
