It's strange for me too, as it only happens some times. And I don't remember doing/seeing anything like I do usually before it happened...

Is this only happening when N360 is in the "idle" state? Can you have the Background Tasks open when this is happening, to see if it might be a certain background task running that causes this double system tray icon? Also, has anyone else seen this, and able to get this to happen regularly with a set of steps? Thanks! Tony Weiss Norton Forums Community Manager Symantec Corporation

This issue once happened to me too when using v3.0 Not noticed in v4.0 I believe this issue should be of Win 7, because, the icon doesnt refresh when we click on the up arrow to see whats running. Even when you quit any application from task manager which is having an icon, it still shows when you click the up arrow. It disappears when you point your cursor over it. This happens everytime for me.

Hi Tony, I think yes, it is happening if I leave the computer and 360 is in idle. Since the last post I didn't get this error, but if I see it again will check Background Tasks window right away. :)

PapauZ and others - Wanted to comment on this as I now have the same situation with NIS2010 showing two icons in the Win7 notification area. Appearently both Symantec Service Frameworks are showing on the notification area now. Did anyone else have to force Norton closed to do some work and then had this show up? (Just wondering if the same actions were used to produce this error.) Anyone know how to fix this WITHOUT uninstalling Norton products? This Win7 Ultimate build 7600.

I never found out what caused this.... Did you checked what Tony suggested? So maybe a stucked idle background task?

After reboot it works OK. Since the last time I didn't got this error.... (This is why I can't check the things Tony aksed :(, only wait for the next time it will happen....)

I had to do a System restore and the only way to do that with NIS2010 installed is to turn OFF Tamper Protection and then manually kill the ccSvcHst processes (both of them). On the bootup after the (then) successful System Restore, the One Click routine was running before I could stop it and NIS2010 showed up twice in the Notification Area. And, same as you, on the next reboot, everything is back to normal.
