No mail after install NIS 2010

Hi, I have installed nis 2010 with a cd-rom. When I want to send an e-mail it doesn`t work. The e-mail goes immediately from "Outbox" to "sended objects" When I turn off the check of outgoing and incomming e-mail it works. Thanks Thomas Message Edited by 55Thomas55 on 11-07-2009 04:08 AM

Hello 55Thomas55 and welcome! Could you check which port your email program uses for outgoing mail? It will probably be either 25 or 587. Thanks!

Hi 55Thomas55 You could also check if your email program is allowed into the firewall. What email program are you using and what is your o/s and sp level? Thanks

The reason I asked is that many ISPs are switching to port 587 for outgoing email and Norton does not scan on port 587. I'd still like you to have the protection of scanning incoming email, so you could try this: Turn off your email program. Open the main Norton interface > Network Settings > Email Antivirus scan > Configure. In the Email Antivirus Scan window: 1) Place a check by "Scan incoming email messages". 2) Uncheck "Scan outgoing email messages". 3) Place a check by "Protect against timeouts". 4) Click "Apply" and OK your way out. Let us know how this works for you.

o/s = operating system like XP, Vista, Win 7 sp = service pack # if any

@Phil Jehhh it works, 1) Place a check by "Scan incoming email messages" 2) Uncheck "Scan outgoing email messages". Done and i also unchecked incoming mail and now bolth are working now. What next ?

Could clarify the current settings? When "Scan incoming email messages" is checked (On), does your email work properly?
