Have you tried the Free PC Checkup Scan...I wonder if it's like Security Inspector.

Thanks for feedback.... just wanted to confirm my impressions & experience with the Checkup.  The EULA is so legally scary...you never know for sure what you're downloading these days.  Hope the Checkup doesn't evolve into marketing for FeeBased services.  Guess, we can forget about Security Inspector for 2010. 

There is also http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp ...I run the Symantec Security Check...but, NIS blocks some tests and also reports an Intrusion Attempt.  Go figure.  Maybe I have to download the app. but, I don't need the weekly Virus Scan...unless the detection engine is different from NIS?

Intrusion Attempt? When I tried the online virus scan and security check I didn't get any Intrusions, do you use NIS 2010?

It's unusual to be 'attacked' by an Intrusion on a legitimate site. If you get more problems you should ask a virus expert.

NIS 09 / FF / Vista ..... the Security Check is probing ports ... I get several IPS PortScan Medium / Blocked

Did u expand the results to view the Port Scan results.  All tested ports reported Stealth.  Maybe 2010 uses that Insight thingy and knows the scans are safe?   Do u see any history of the Port Scans?   (the Scan requires Java)   Maybe I was getting probed from some other source.  While the Scan is running I get the IPS popups.  If Insight is at play then this was good comparison of 09 to 10.  Waiting for patch fix to Upgrade.  I usually wait about 60 days or until Norton has the first Live Update patch to Upgrade. I don't like HotFixes....prefer to wait for LU patch.  I was ready to Upgrade and then Norton had that patch glitch. So, now I'll patiently wait to see if patch fix is OK.   Is that Insight thingy why u had no IPS.
