Travis

This one is agood one

I have norton 360 v1

I have upgraded to v2

When i power up the pc the screen remains a deathly blue

NO start button and bar along bottom of screen, NO icons on Desktop

They do reappear when i press Esc

I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times

Can you figure out what is wrong. It really goes belly up after i have done the live update

Any ideas from the Norton team welcome

My sub runs out in one month and i am rather loath to renew with this problem

[edit: moved from Norton Protection Blog post and updated Subject.]

Hi Silverfoxcc,

Have you tried System Restore in your computer or boot in to Last Known Good Configuration? If not, try that first.

If the problem persists, try these steps:

1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to start Windows Task Manager.
2. On the Options menu, uncheck Always on Top.
3. On the File menu, click New Task.
4. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
5. At the command prompt, type the following text, and then press ENTER:
copy explorer.exe microsoftexplorer.exe
6. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.
7. On the Shutdown menu, click Restart

The same problem can happen if your computer is already infected by some Spyware/Malware.Download Hijackthis http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download. You need download the third in the list (Excutable), install it and click "Do a system scan and save a log". Then open the log in Notepad. Either post the log or send it to me as a Private Message.
