A couple items to help clarify things I hope.

With Android (and iOS as well) Tablets there's no real concept of "accounts" per se. You don't have the ability log in or log out of an account. There's just the one "account." Anything adminstrative related is related to permissions and not user accounts.

For web filtering you'll need to use a parental control app. There is a Norton solution for that. The Norton Safety Minder app is what is installed on the child's device. Norton Online Family is used by the parent. To "do" anything on your tablet you'll be using Apps. No need for command line for the every day user.

A lot of apps are installed through an App Store. On your Galaxy Tab that would be Google Play or the Samsung App Store. If you buy NTS from a retail store or our eStore you'll be provided some instructions on how to install. There are two methods. One is through the App Store where you tap on "Install". Another is from a webpage. For that you download the installer (a file with the extension of .APK - this stands for Android Package) and then run that file (by tapping on the file on your device).

Hello DavidThomas99.

I understand that you have just acquired a Galaxy Tab 2 with ICS and are wondering if Norton Tablet Security (NTS) will work on it.

In summary - I believe it should.

There were reports of some early problems with ICS but I am not aware of any recently. You might want to leave this thread open for a while to see if anyone else is aware of any problems or you could try relying on the very reasonable attitude Norton seem to take to refunds within 60 days - which should mean that you can try it and if you find that it does not work as described then ask for a refund.

Do let us know how it works if you decide to try it.

Good luck.

My wife just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, and I want to install AV & theft protection on it. We are new to tablets, and I don't see how to install something like NTS on this thing. I am very disappointed in Samsung's user documentation. I even found a GT user forum online, and it seems everyone assumes that the user is an expert. I downloaded a user guide from Samsung and I am surprised at the lack of built-in security features. I can't find a way to setup individual user accounts (I can create "user sync" accounts that tie into windows domain accounts, Google accounts, Facebook, etc); there is a reference to administrator accounts, but no explanation of creating/modifying them. I cannot find a way to block or filter web browsing -- I certainly won't get a table for my middle-school kids.

Anyhow, it's a cute toy. If I buy the NCS, how do I go about installing it? there's no command line, and there is no reference to "install" in the user guide.

Thanks

Tom
