If you go to the services management console (service.msc from the run line or via the search box), what is the State and Startup Type for RPC? By the way, there are two items that will be listed in your services. Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator. We're interested in only checking the first.

Message Edited by erik_carlstrom on 03-26-2009 12:20 PM

Hi TomV,

I installed the Norton v3 in my computer.

But to make the verification of software through online support, the media reported that the RPC remains disabled. I checked the Windows Services and then indicates that the RPC was started normally.

On my PC, I have the Media Center and I saw, if the RPC does not work, I could not watch any TV channel ( service of reception the Media Center), something that is not happening.

And now? Who is working correctly?

Sorry for my English, if not perfect .... I´m from Brazil....

Hi Mcampos,

Can you uninstall N360 once and see if the problem still exists? That way we will be able to narrow down the root cause of your problem. Also, if possible, can you give us more information about the problem?

What program are you using?

What exactly is the error message that you receive?

Thanks,

TomV

Norton Forums Moderator

Symantec Corporation

Hi TomV,
I will try to explain the problem: I have the N360 Norton, now in Version 3. In the software I have the tool of online support software, for online verification of Norton, a check if Norton is not a problem (via the Support button Help & Support \ Support). After it makes the verification, the support of the following failure: "RPC Off, corrections made, please restart your pc". I restart and online support open again, makes the verification and the following message "RPC Off, please contact Support." I checked with Microsoft and I spent some instructions for the verification of the RPC. In windows, make sure the screen RPC service had opened, the windows shows that the RPC was started. (My pc is a HP which has Windows Vista Home Premium, with SP1).

You have some knowledge of history to this identified? I do not know this, but can be any value from record wrong?

Thank you for your attention,
