Hi mbjnh,

If you have Norton 360 on both computers, use the Identity Safe backup feature to create a .npm file of your data. Copy the backup file to the new computer and use the restore option in Identity Safe to move the data into your Identity Safe profile on the new machine.

Hi mbjnh,

The procedures mentioned are two different approaches. In mine you simply go to the Identity Safe settings in the main program and use the backup option. You do not need to locate the file - you just need to specify a backup location - and once copied to the other PC you can simply use the restore option to put the data into your profile on the new machine.

The Export option suggested in the other post moves the data as a plain text .csv file, which cannot be directly entered into the new profile but does give you a human-readable copy. To do this in version 5, look in the Help listing, indexed under "Identity Safe, exporting data" for specific instructions on locating the file and exporting the data.

You should get a "Backup succeeded" message when you click OK to finish the backup operation, and if you open the folder that contains the backup file you should see the file with a file type of .NPM. If you are still unsure, check this KB article for specific instructions on how to do the backup:

http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=kb20080407143622EN_EndUserProfile_en_us&ln=en_us

You're welcome. While we're on the subject, be sure to back up Identity Safe periodically so that you have a recent copy, just in case you need it should some calamity strike.
