Another download manager is currently running.

Trying to install 360v5 and get the following Norton Download Manager error message:

"Another download manager is currently running. Please wait for it to complete and try again"

I have run the Norton Removal Tool and rebooted.

Running Windows XP, service pack 3

User account is Administrator

Windows Installer is version 4.5

I see no obvious installers running in task manager/processes

Any other ideas?

You can download directly from the Symantec Web site and use the latest installer for installing Norton 360 in your computer. You can use any one the following links according to the product you have purchased:

Norton 360 V5 Standard - www.norton.com/n360s_5

Norton 360 V5 Premier - www.norton.com/n360p_5

Download and save the installer file to your desktop, then use it for installing Norton 360. Let us know the results.

Is there a way to avoid the download manager entirely? Download the necessary installation files on another PC, transfer those files to the subject computer and install, or will the same error occur?

Use the link given in Yogesh's message which is a single file installation download and does not use a download manager.

Use the SAVE option not the RUN option and save the file to where you can find it again.

But you may need to clean up from any previous failed attempts including any Download Manager installed since it may automatically start up again?
