Toolbar for FF9

The last topic I posted became a read only for some reason so I can't update what I've done so far. Here's what going on: I am running 360 ver. 9.1.0.29 and toolbar ver. 2011.7.3.6, I installed FF9 when it first came out and was going to wait a couple days for the patch from Norton to be added but I kept forgetting. I ran LiveUpdate today, restarted my computer, and opened FF to see no toolbar available. After browsing the site I found out that I have to enable to toolbar manually, so I went to the extensions page to find out that it is still not compatible with FF. So I closed FF ran LiveUpdate again and opened FF hoping to see the toolbar to be compatible. So I unintalled FF, ran LiveUpdate, restarted my computer, ran LiveUpdate again, reinstalled FF, ran LiveUpdate again, restarted again, and the toolbar is still not compatible. Any thought? Thanks.

So I've run LiveUpdate and restarted 10 times now, but I keep getting the update that says N360 product update: this update requires a restart of your PC, which I have done. I keep getting the same updates over and over again but it seems like none of them are applying for some reason. Any other thoughts? I'm gonna keep trying and hope it sticks.

OK, it can take many cycles. Are you getting any error messages? You mention you have 360 v 9.1.0.29. This is probably a misunderstanding, but could you check as the current version is 5.1.0.29. Open N360 > Support > About.

Yeah it's 5.1.0.29 I must have just misread it. No I'm not getting any error messages so I have no idea what's going on. I think I'll just wait a day or two to see if it might just be a slight bug.

Hi Tjliebro,

Norton 360 v5 Norton Toolbar version should be 2011.7.4.3 (updated version) to have enable button in FF->tools->addons->extension, If you don't have latest version, it means still patch is not applied into your system,

In order to get that patch, please run liveupdate repeatedly until it shows " your Norton product has latest updates"

Once you got the latest version(2011.7.4.3 ) Go to FF->Tools->Addons->Enable Norton toolbar addons and restart FF

Note: If you have installed N360 V5 newly on your system, you need to run live update 9 times to get the latest updates

Please find more info from this link

After performing above steps, if you still have this problem. Could try un install and re installing the product , follow the below steps to un install and re install

If you use identity safe, before un-installing the previous product, take a backup of Identity safe data

Remove NIS from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs (if this is not work, follow below steps)

Please download Norton Removal Tool from following link : www.norton.com/nrt and follow the procedure which is mentioned in the link

Install the NIS and Run Live Update until you get no new updates(Run 9 times)

Restore your Identity Safe data

Please keep your Norton product key handy to activate your product after installation.

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

When you first activated N360 you would have had to create a Norton Account by supplying an email address and a password. Go to http://mynortonaccount.com/ and sign in. You will see any available installations and next to that there is a download button.

Adding to Krusty information,

If you are using Windows XP, you can find the product key in your computer itself.

Open My Documents->Symantec->N360Key.txt In that file you can find the key for the Norton 360. You can use the same key on the computer and activate the same.

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

Much thanks everyone! After a solid hour of uninstalling, reinstalling, downloading, and restarting I have the toolbar back. I never would have figured out how to do this without all your help. Krusty if you go to Kentucky (which I gather from your avatar, although it might be just a K for your name) they suck, GO ORANGE!

So.... Do you have the Norton toolbar on Firefox? The 'K' is just a 'K', I am in Oz.

If your problem is solved, could you please pick a post that helped you the most and mark that as your solution. It will help others who have the same problem. And can I recommend that next time you update N360 before updating Firefox.

Thanks, Dave.
