My issue with the tracking cookie popups is that they happen so often. Say I'm using pricegrabber.com to check on some prices. Their cookies are considered trackers, but I need them temporarily so I can enter a zip code and other info to get the correct pricing. Once I'm done a few hours later, getting rid of the cookies would be great. But here comes Norton with its Red Alert. I don't want to delete the cookies quite yet, but I do want to get rid of them after I'm done. So I try to defer, but Norton comes back over and over with the same popup.

Having tracking cookies listed as high risk causes unnecessary worry especially for novices.

The first time I used NIS2010 Norton a pop-up claimed Norton had found/fixed x (x=>3) high risks. It had me worried until I opened the scan results and found that it was only tracking cookies it had found.

Hello!

Where did you see them as high risk . They have always been Low risk threats in 2010 versions ? I don't remeber how it was in 2009 version ...

Has that always been the case with 2010?

My main concern was (now my only concern) when an idle quick scan completes and Norton displays a red pop-up claiming a security risk has been fixed. (I can't remember the exact message. I have only just re-enabled Norton to deal with tracking cookies)

If the scan has only found tracking cookies then I think the pop-up should be yellow and a message such as "Norton has detected and removed tracking cookies"

The pop-up not being red is the most important part.

The first time I used NIS2010 Norton a pop-up claimed Norton had found/fixed x (x=>3) high risks. It had me worried until I opened the scan results and found that it was only tracking cookies it had found.

This is normal . You have your settings so that LOW risks are not removed automatically. Since they haven't been removed (at a time) , they are Unresolved risk . Unresolved risks could contain low risks as well as medium or high risks.

I mean you may have both cookies and something else (unresolved) . But tracking cookies by themselves are low risks

Usually we make the UI red if there is user required action.

We could consider this only if the user has set the "always do the following" action for cookies (fix/cleanup).

Otherwise the UI should remain red, so it's consistent with alerting style (red means you need to take an action).
