Not sure whats going on with my Identity Safe login icons. Some of them are there and some of them have disappeared. The icons do appear in the dropdown listing the most recent logins used but when you go to the login where its stored by user specified folder ( All Logins) the login is there but not the icon. Seems not to work with Yahoo login which appeared then disappeared.

Is there a way to fix the icon either edit it or some how fix this problem

Done the internet explorer reset defaults but doesn't make a difference.

Yes reboot the machine.

Also transfer .dat file from other computer to this one. Problem is still there.

Did a reinstall of Norton 360. The problem icons appeared for a day then disappeared

I submitted this as a "report Issue" a month or so ago..

When I select "All Logins" only the first folder populates the icons, subsequent folders (another issue-currently limited to display only seven) down the list do not populate the icons. Also, the seventh, of my eleven folders, does not populate all of the Logins contained in it. Reboots do not help; cleaned up files and routine PC maintenance all up to date. Uninstalled and reinstalled Norton 360 recently to clear up the FireFox 13.0.1 missing Norton Toolbar (and Identity Safe).

Same in IE and FF.

All minor annoyances, but it does take more time for me to scan and read the list of logins instead of looking for the icon, which if I see an icon, it does save time.

Just noticed something else that happens to the icons. When you add a new login and new icon appears for that login it then removes an existing icon from the list.

Its a annoying bug then. Had a look at where the icons are kept and they look fine so must be something to to do with the datasafe.dat file. May be the file is set to be only a certain size.

Yes, I'm the person who first posted it back in February . . .

have a problem with Identity Safe. The problem started when I installed Firefox 10. At first, the Norton Toolbar was not available for this new addition of Firefox, then after a day or two, at the most, a LiveUpdate fix was generated to give the new Mozilla Firefox 10.0 the Norton Toolbar. I did not like the way IE8 kept "hanging" on its close.

Anyway, to my surprise and chagrin, I found when I opened my Identity Safe, in both IE8 and Firefox, the icons (or Favicons) associated with most of my signons were missing. On my system (Windows XP), only 28 are being generated, starting at the top of the list. As you can see in the image below, the icons stop, right in the middle of a folder!

Well, I called Symantec and after about 2 hours spoke with a nice enough fellow who explained the problem, which most likely was the "fix" or update for Firefox 10 (had to be written quickly).

I told him it was pretty crappy since I actually USE those icons to identify the signon I need. I hate reading each one(I have over 200!), looking for the right signon. He told me, well, the Identity Safe is functional and the icons are shown for those most recently used signons. I told him, well that is fine, but IT IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. Why just generate favicons for the top 20 to 60 signons and leave an empty space for the rest? The icons are ALL visible in the Login Edit (see below), so why can't they be available for the login list?

As you can see, they are there, aren't they? So they ARE being generated, aren't they? Again, why not save them for the list of logins, though some are just blue dots, which could signify something I had not signed into for a long while and should be deleted.

He basically told they had to whip up something quick for the Mozilla Firefox fix, so its possible the icons were restricted in that. He indicated there should be about 60 generated before the NIS software stops generation; I get 28.

I told him, for me, this was unacceptable and a fix should be generated. Though he told me there were/are performance issues, I said I don't give a rat's butt about "performance," and it's my computer, at least LET ME DECIDE whether to generate them, or not. That decision should be mine, NOT Symantec's. I also said, if they are NOT going to be gen'd, remove them entirely. Don't just do 28 to 60; blow it off entirely.

Yeah, the Identity Safe IS functional, like a refrigerator with missing shelves. It keeps things cold, but you can't find anything because everything is on one shelf "buried" with something else.

If I were working with Symantec, I never would have let this "half baked cake" be put on the shelves for consumers to have to "eat." If you are going to do something do it right, don't just do it halfway!

I am waiting for my fix!

William T.

Case # 02060182

The bug's been around since February . . .

Here is what I posted back then -

have a problem with Identity Safe.

This is an irritating problem and since they are now pushing Norton Identity Safe as a stand-alone product also, you would think that they would take the time for a fix...

Using Win7 SP1 (64-bit), IE9 (32-bit), and Norton Internet Security 2012, this problem only seems to occur if you use folders. For example, right now without using any folders, I see all of the Favricons. However, as soon as I create a folder (needed because of so many Logins), some of the Favricons disappear in the "All Logins" view.
