Do you mean the placeholders? The stub messages that tell you were to look to find where the messages is moved?

I think this "Forum Feedback" forum needs a more noticeable explanation of what it's for, since so many different people are getting confused by it.

It's one of those things like having a little bitty sign along the road that says, "Garage sale next right" but the sign is so un-noticeable that most people don't even see the sign and so they miss the sale (okay not a very good analogy :smileywink: but I couldn't think of anything better).

As to this forum, maybe Norton could put something up at the top in big friendly letters, and/or possibly on the "New Message" page itself, that says, "For tech questions about your Norton product, please use one of the other forums. This forum is only for questions about the operation of the forum itself" or something like that...someone else could probably come up with a better wording for it.

Hi Allen

I think I was in a house cleaning mode,A bit embarrassed to say it would make the forum look tidy!! Which when I think about it,It is not as important as the functioning of this forum.Yes those were the things.A case of posting and not thinking it through:smileywink:

That brings up an interesting question in my mind. When a question or thread is moved to another subject do the people tracking it still get notified, upon reflection it would not matter that the message is in a different location people would still be notified when the message they are tracking is updated, however, would people get a message that their message had been moved to a different subject?

The reason I ask is for people that may go back to a certain subject to look for their post that had been moved and not be able to find it if it were deleted? I assume I am speaking for a minority of people as most will have their message or thread tracked thourgh the system.

Oh yeah and that is not funny; I used to go to work and when I came back one or both of the kids would have put things such as pennies into the CD player of the computer!! :) I figured some day it was going to sound more like a washing machine.

Ok gang...

After reading this thread, I decided to try something different.

I removed all of the non-recent placeholders here in "Forum Feedback". It's always been my thinking that leaving them is better, but let's see if it makes any difference.

Ooh you win. That sounds bad.

Maybe we can get Symantec to come out with a security cage to keep kids out :)

One thing I think I will like about not having the place holders (I guess just in the Forum Feedback?) will be that messages that are moved will not show up as a new post when looking down the 'new' column.

On the other side I was wondering if anyone would be looking all over for their message (not likely) and if it would be helpful to have a thread that followed the moved messages but upon reflection that would be silly because people can search for their message as well as they probably receive an email when their message is moved.
