For Forum Moderator or Symantec employee,

I have been noticing a minor issue which would be good to resolve if possible. I find when I am offering assistance to another user by responding to their post and then when I click on their user name it always shows their Date Last Visited with a date/time stamp which matches the time of *my* response.

Since I noticed this so many times I performed a couple of tests. First I would click on their user name (before responding) and see that the Date Last Visited was some time in the past and they were currently Offline. Then I responded to their post and refreshed the screen where I was viewing their profile. I find that it is very consistent, their Date Last Visited then updates to the time of *my* response.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

Allen

Message Edited by AllenM on 11-07-2009 07:25 PM

I've noticed issues with the time but it seems as though it is showing the date/time of last activity rather than last visit i.e. They can be on-line but if they aren't doing anything, other than being logged on, then the time does not change.

Hi Tom,

There has to be an answer here. I am at a loss right now. All I can say is that I've seen no less than 50 or 60+ examples of this in the last couple of weeks alone. Users who were not logged on since as much as 1-3 days before my response and showed currently Offline. Then my response and their time updated to *MY* time and still showed them offline.

Way too much for coincidence.

I need to put on my software engineering hat and think outside the box and see if I can come up with the common denominator. :smileywink:

Yaso, you said earlier that you saw the same thing. Let's figure out the common denominator together. :smileyhappy:

Edit: Could this be specific to certain forums? The first example I showed was huwyngr and it showed that the time stamp changed with my response. Yet when I done the same with mdturner and Yaso it did not change. Huwyngr, did you happen to log on briefly during these few minutes of time when I posted those two responses?

Thanks much

Allen

Message Edited by AllenM on 11-09-2009 12:05 AM

Thank you for taking your time to test this out. It certainly seems too much for coincidence.

-Tom

Hi AllenM,

Yes, I've seen the same thing; and yesterday, when I was replying to a poster who was online but idle (or who had not logged out properly [simply closed the browser window instead of actually logging out]), said poster's time changed to reflect the time of my answer. So it not only happens with offline users, but also with "idle" "online" users.
