After Comcast dumped McAfee for Norton, I reluctantly made the switch. I’ve had a few problems I’m working on. I can’t get to the Dell Forums. I assume Norton is blocking the Dell site, but I can’t seem to find where I would find that information.

I have a secondary back-up computer that can access the site, but not from my primary that I have switched over to Norton.

This is the site I am try to get to….

http://en.community.dell.com

(From the Dell “Home” Page clink on “Community” at the top.)

This is the message that is displayed….

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime ErrorDescription: An application error occurred on the server. It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application.

Hi DaveTN

Since you appear to be running Comcast Norton Security Suite the Mod may move you to the Other Norton Products Forum.

Have you consulted Comcast Norton Security Suite Support re this issue

Welcome to the Community

bjm_

FWIW ~ I'm not able to get to Community either...maybe a Dell thing? I tired Community from two Dell sites...Other links OK

Dave,

I see that you have a few threads discussing problems that you have with your install. Are you fairly certain that you had completely uninstalled your Mcaffee product prior to installing Norton. You may want to check that out. If you determine that you have Mcafee completely uninstalled I would probably uninstall Norton, reboot the computer a few times and reinstall the software. I haven't seen the issues you are describing in your threads so I suspect that the install may be a bit screwy. Contacting Comcast as recommended is excellent advice. Good luck.

I can open the link Dave provided ok...hmmm, something is strange. Opera is fine. Like it a lot and use it about half the time. I have been using IE for banking and other stuff where I think that might benefit from Norton Safe Web might be beneficial. Take care.

Hi DaveTN,

I am able to access the page but it takes forever to load. This, along with the message you are getting that there is a server error, almost certainly means that the site is having problems. If you can go to other websites without issue, then your Norton program is working correctly and not blocking your connectivity to sites.

Hi pasha'

I tried the link again and it works for me also...I tried before with no success...site tried to open but, never finished loading as if server had issues...

Works now...so, must have been a Dell server issue...

Thanks ...I did not think to try the link again later

Cheers

bjm_

edit > just now read SendOfJive having same issue I encountered earlier...other links on Dell site were OK...just the Community link was problematic

@ DaveTn,

You may be aware that dell forums has been down a few days for updateing their forums. I as many others have been having problems conecting and posting. It seems the new forums is having much trouble.

It's not norton but the new Just updated forums as many there run free AV and Firewalls and are having troubles. I know because I just came from there. Half a day not only to post but just get on.

Note: your old links will not work on this new forum. You need to get to the community ( other than your links ) then choose what forum you want, but you may still run into problems as many has until this gets fixed.
