I found NIS 2008 at a local store at a reduced price. If I buy it, can I just use the enclosed key to extend my NIS 2011 activation or do I have to install 2008 and then upgrade?

Because NIS is a subscription based service, Yes you can buy NIS 2008 and use its product key to renew your NIS 2011 subscription.

You would just click on Renew near the bottom center of the main NIS screen, and then enter your new product key in the box provided. Then click the little button just to the right of the box to enter your new subscription.

I recommend waiting until the last day or two before your current subscription expires before entering the new product key, as the new product key will reset the days remaining on your current subscription. So to prevent losing any days please wait until the last day or two before your current subscription expires before doing this.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen

Hello jimc28352

If you are going to buy NIS 2008 from Amazon, please make sure that it is a new boxed version and not one of the used software products I have seen on Amazon. Be careful or you might end up with a key that has been used already. Thanks

HI jimc28352,

As long it is new which it appears to be then you are in good shape. We just like to caution people and recommend not buying a used version becauase we've seen too many people get bitten and they find out the product key has already been used and cannot activate their software.

It you buy a new/unopened one you won't have this problem.

Again, please don't use the new key until a day or two before your current subscription expires.

Best wishes.

Allen
