I found vis picture floating in the comodo forum. Is it real? I doubt it is. What does the product displays when it expires?

I'm not in the habit of letting my NIS expire on me! :smileyhappy: But I don't know about that image, it somehow does not look right. And what about the image provided by the OP in this thread which came from an actual pop up from an expired NIS?

I've asked Symantec to confirm but I'm thinking your image does not look right or legitimate.

Also you can attach images but you must use the symbol at the top of your reply editor, not the Add Attachment at the bottom.

I know how to post imgs. But I'm using my mobile phone so I can't access the toolbar. It doesn't even appear! OperaMini 5 with Sony Ericsson K800i

Imo Symantec should improve their compatibity with mobile browsers. The quote function produced a strange forum error.

I've let my product expire a couple of times (with a new key handy for that moment), and I've never seen a message even remotely resembling that image. That said, I don't specifically recall what messages are displayed. I do know that you begin to get pop-ups, one after another, in the lower right corner advising you that AV, Firewall, etc., are no longer protecting you, and the red X in the system tray icon. I'm not overly impressed with the tactics of the folks at the Comodo forum, this looks be another one of them, IMO.

First the issue of the popup. This is a legitimate alert window. It is meant to be in the same line of humor as the following videos. Let me know if you have any questions about these alerts, and thanks for letting us know!

I saw that this popup was complained on the Comodo forum. It could be see as a threat to buy Norton software or renew it. Its almost the same behavior as rogue av, they said.

Yay our thread got mentioned in forbes blog! Well, I'm certainly happy to hear that this message has been "toned down". I'm still very surprised that the original message was ever approved, but I guess that's why I'm not making the big bucks, or the decisions, at Symantec.:smileywink:

Kudos to Symantec for realizing the mistake and pulling that message.
