NIS Threat Map (Not Updating)

Ok, I have had some issues with the threat map. I have NIS 2011 and It wont update the map it still says 8/16/2010 I have tried updating it my self amoung other avanues. I have reinstalled the program I even reformated this computer and put a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ult on it then installed Norton NIS 2011 still no update to the map it self.

Did you turn turn on smart definitions?

Yes, Smart Def's are on. But I have tried it BOTH ways it still seems to not update.

Turning on smart defs seem to cause a glitch that prevents the threat map data from updating. Try turning off smart defs, and run liveupdate. Then restart and run liveupdate again. That should make the map update.

Plus, the threat map will "play" out the last 24 hours. So it would start from 10/25/2010 12 A.M. to the current time.

I installed NIS 2011 on 8/31. The Smart Defs setting is turned on. Since I've never edited it, I assume it's always been on. My Threat Map always starts with 8/30. Assuming it does play out the last 24 hours, the start date depends on the NIS install date, not the current date. To be honest, I really don’t care about the map one way or the other. Just thought I would note what’s happening on my PC.

This did fix it and it's back to updating. For now Ill just leave it like it is until a fix for smart def's is released. Thanks again.

Is Symantec planning on fixing this issue anytime soon? I've had the same issue.

This problem was discussed in the following thread, and it will be corrected in a future update. See the message from PieterV:

Meanwhile, can you please turn off Smart Definitions, and then run LiveUpdate. If you still experience the problem, please let us know.
