I find my Norton updates every 10 minutes on the dot, never fails. However in past comments on this forum I was told I was mistaken. Well I've discovered why some find Norton updates every 10 minutes, and some users have to wait longer. If my laptop is connected to the mains it updates every 10 minutes, if it's running on battery power it can take an hour or more to update. Now isn't that interesting :smileyhappy:

Hello sturgess

This is a known fact. There is a setting in Norton's for when you are on battery power that you can turn on.

Power Saving Mode lets you save your battery power by suspending a list of background jobs when your computer runs on battery power. By default, this option is turned on. When this option is turned on, Norton Internet Security detects when your computer is on battery power and suspends the background jobs. The background jobs include Norton-specific tasks, such as automatic virus definition updates, Norton Community Watch submissions, and Idle Time Scans. The background jobs resume when you start running your computer again on external power. You can obtain a list of background jobs in the Norton Tasks window. The Status column in the Norton Tasks window also displays the type of power that a job requires to run. Norton Internet Security continues to run the background jobs that show a battery symbol in the Status column.

It may be a known fact to you, me, and now Gorpy1, but when I posted this information some months back many of the kudos collecting experts told me I was wrong. But I'm big enough to forgive them, but what I am unable to forgive is that you were awarded a kudos for merely confirming this day that what I posted was correct ? I think we need a independent kudos awarding operative to see that those of us who deserve a kudos or two get our share.

I am sorry, but I can not give myself any Kudos. The Kudos are given and can be given by anyone who reads the posts and it's up to that person who does give the Kudos if they want to give it. I do NOT influence anyone to give me Kudos if that is what you are implying. No one can give themselves Kudos. "Kudos collecting experts". I am merely another Norton user who tries to help other users with their products and problems. I am not an employee of Symantec and I do not consider myself to be a Kudos collecting expert nor do I consider anyone else who posts in these Forums to be Kudos collecting experts..

Well sturgess The forum is a very useful and informative tool (place) this is your decision but I believe you would lose the benefit of others who help Norton clients at no monetary benefits to themselves at all. They just want to help people and God bless them for it.......Thanks, Gorpy1

I wondered why you made your uncalled for/unfounded remarks as well. I also waited awhile before posting so that I could be sure that the response would not be removed. We're all volunteers here [except those with their names in red] and I'm not aware of any who try to 'collect' kudos. The system allows us to give them to anyone but ourselves. This makes 'collecting' a matter of helping those who come here requesting assistance. If we do a good job we get a pat on the back [kudo] if not, then the responder who does do the job right gets it.
