topic NIS 2012 - Last Scan for which type of Scan? in Norton Internet Security / Norton AntiVirus

Hi.

I noticed that in NIS 2011 I was easily able to see when a particular scan was last run.

However, in 2012, I have found this not to be the case. For example:

The above image is the default (non-advanced) screen. It was that my last scan was on 9/18/2011 and that's great.

What it doesn't show me is what kind of scan was run!

Quick Scan?

Full System Scan?

Reputation Scan?

Custom Scan?

Repuation Scan?

Even when I go into Advanced Mode, nothing is Date stamped.

This is very bothersome to me. In NIS 2011 everything was Date stamped, so I can easily see when a scan was last run.

Sure, I could get around it by going to history, but that needs a couple of extra time consuming keystrokes.

Could this be corrected?

Thanks.

Atomic_Blast

Still I am not sure if the design will be changed. One thing I would help you is that you can easily access the "HISTORY" from system tray through the right click menu.

Hi Atomic_Blast,

Also from the main UI you can click Performance then Norton Tasks. The Norton Tasks window will give a breakdown of when things like Full system scan, quick scan, etc has last been run and whether it was completed, canceled or whatever.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen

@Thalir:

Thanks for your response.

My point is that in 2011 you didn't have to do anything. Everything was instantly and logically presented in the Interface.

If this could be corrected, it would be very nice. I should take a screen shot of 2011 and place 2012 below it.

Atomic_Blast

I agree with Atomic, it's an inconvenience having to access History to see the date a certain scan was last performed. I've never disliked the removal of a feature so much.

As for being able to see it in Norton Tasks, not only is it a similar inconvenience, but there must be a bug. My history shows a last full scan completed on 16/9/11, but Norton Tasks shows the last full scan completed as 10/9/11. Norton Tasks is therefore not reliable.

@ bunny71:

You have a discrepancy in the date stamping of the Full System Scan? Really?

Atomic_Blast :)

Ditto!

Removing the ability to see "at-a-glance" when a full scan or quick scan was last run (as in NIS 2011) is a major inconvenience--and a foolish oversight in NIS 2012.

Please remember that many of us still like to manually run the scans and monitor the program!

Thalir's work-around suggestion involves several steps, and waits for the History to load, not to mention attention and time to sift through the results there.

AllenM's suggestion to switch to Performance view and select Norton Tasks is quicker. BUT IT'S STILL INCONVENIENT!!

PLEASE make the date and time of the scans visible once again on the main page.

It's simply the last scan (full, quick, custom, etc.). For me now it's the last quick scan:
