Microsoft advises you to remove any other security products before installing MSE. It is generally a bad idea to run two real-time protection products together, for reasons stated in the MSE FAQs, Also you should know that an issue of loss of internet connectivity has been documented in cases where MSE and Norton 360 were installed on the same machine. Just stay with Norton and use the free versions of Malwarebytes' and/or SUPERAntiSpyware as on-demand scanners when you need a second opinion about something. They do not run in real time and so cause no problems for Norton or your system.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/How-do-I-uninstall-antivirus-or-antispyware-programs

Further to the above, if you would like to run an on-demand scan using Microsoft technology, then you can download the 'Microsoft Safety Scanner' from the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
