Verifying Website

I wish to veryify my website. I am unable to upload an html file with only the code on it. I could upload it as a txt file or I could put the code on any of my pages. Can anyone give advise on how I should go about this?

Hello Berry3 and welcome!

If you are unable to upload the nortonsw HTML authentication file, you can add the required information to a Meta Tag on your home page.

You can create this new tag using your site building program. You may have already used Meta Tags for adding a description or keywords to your main page. Use nortonsw as the file name and the full authentication code as the content. The File Content or authentication code is the very long alphanumeric code that would have been sent in your email registration.

If you do not wish to create a new tag, you can add the authentication code to an already existing Meta Tag such as keywords.

Use your site building program to edit an existing tag such as keywords. Copy and paste the File Content from your email registration, (the very long alphanumeric code) to an already existing tag on your main page. Be sure it is separated from the other entries with a comma.

Example: dogs, cats, horses, zp_4srd6nros..............u30fm24fy (Norton SW File Content is in blue text.)

Although neither of these methods will allow for the automated verification, it should assist the Safe Web team in manually verifying your site.

After you have completed this step, please post the full address of your site here and I will check that the code is properly located.

Hi Berry3,

Although I can see the Safe Web code on the special page you made, it would be helpful to add the authentication code to the keywords on your home page: http://www.probiotics-lovethatbug.com

You could add it right after:

probiotics, probiotic supplements, foods that contain probiotics, good bacteria, zz1234.....abc1234

Do I need to leave it there after you've seen it or can I then remove it?

That looks great. It should remain there so that the Safe Web team can verify ownership of your site. I will mark your post to their attention. Please allow a day or two for a response from them here in this thread.

It will not affect your site leave the code in the meta tag permanently.

I see you have properly placed your authentication code in the keywords meta tag.

I'll notify the Safe Web team so they can manually verify your site.

Allow the Safe Web team a day or two to respond to your post and confirm the site ownership verification.

After that your site should be queued for evaluation.
