Hello,

recently I run across a very interesting website: http://www.eset.com/products/comparison/

Can anyone from Symantec comment on this? They say that the results are based on independent security test organizations. What should stop me from buying ESET when my NIS subscription runs out?

Shagrat...

Hi Shagrat

This, or a similar, question comes up every time a security vendor publishes their "independent survey" and I take all of them with a large dose of salt and ignore them.

The only proof of how good a security solution is for you is to actually use the solution and see how it performs for you based on the criteria you deem to be most important for how you use your system. Download trial versions of products that you think may suit you and see for yourself how they perform rather than relying on some "paid for" "independent survey".

Hi Shagrat,

I would not take those numbers too seriously. All vendors try to push their own product. The biggest flaw in this comparison that they use is the fact that it does not show the version number of the product they compare. For all we know it could be an old version of Norton.

Regards

jAW

For starters, those "results" for Norton are for Norton 2009 products.(Click on the little question marks and it will show the dates of the tests the "results"are based on.)

To even suggest that ESET is superior to NIS 2010 in protecting your PC is laughable.

Message Edited by hok on 10-20-2009 06:45 AM
