The discussion is locked and considered resolved. Yet I am still having problems.

I installed a new larger hard disk in my MacBookPro and then installed it's original Leopard 10.5 load and installed NAV 11. All was fine until I installed my Snow Leopard 10.6 upgrade disk. I never experienced problems before with my NAV 11 (probably because I was slow to upgrade to SL and your LiveUpdate probably was up to or past 11.0.3 when I did upgrade). I also have a MacMini that is currently at OS 10.6.8 with NAV 11.1.2 (17). I never experienced any of the problems in the closed discussion until my recent new hard drive load.

I followed the instructions for removing the NAV which worked well. I reinstalled the NAV and experienced an error that kept putting up an error message that prevented LiveUpdate from connecting to your server. So I never received 11.0.3 (or better). In light of recent Mac Trojan threats in the news, I am relunctant to run without NAV protection.

I am wiping/reloading a second time in an attempt to get the NAV and OSX to play together. When I am done installing 10.5 Leopard, the Leopard updates and the NAV 11 dmg file, how do I update the NAV to 11.0.3 (or better) before I install the Snow Leopard disk?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

NAV 11.0 & OS 10.6.8 Error Messages

I got a Mac Mini from Apple, and tried to install NAV 11.0 for Mac from a purchased CD, since the OS is 10.6.8. The installer asked to install Rosetta, I said yes, and then completed the installation, ending with restart. Upon return to desktop, this error message starting popping up, and returned again every time I dismissed it: "Norton Antivirus Error: Norton Antivirus Auto-Protect could not continue. Please run LiveUpdate or reinstall Norton Antivirus and restart. (Code: 10)". When I tried to run LiveUpdate, Update everything (in between dismissing the repeated pop-ups of the error message), I got this error message: "Updating error. There was an error performing the update." When I tried to open NAV itself, I got this error message: "Norton Antivirus could not open its preferences. Please try restarting your computer. If this error persists, please try re-installing Norton Antivirus." I have tried multiple restarts, and two reinstalls, with no improvement. I found one suggestion to do a "Get Info" on the NAV application, and uncheck "Start in Rosetta". Box was already unchecked, so I checked it, tried a restart, no improvement, then unchecked it, tried a restart, no improvement. Symantec clearly says the NAV version for 10.6 is 11. Help?!?!

You may be having trouble using LiveUpdate due to the version that is included in 11.0. After reinstalling NAV, try following the instructions here:

    http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100414123129EN&ln=en_US

After doing that, you should be able to LU to the latest version (11.1.2).
