This means that when you restart your system they all want to call home and get the latest news. Part of the problem associated with this is that not all of the programs load and become operational at the same time. So one gets loaded and calls home, it's happy. During that time another loaded and couldn't get a dial tone, it's not happy, moments later the line is free and it gets its chance to call home and be updated.

If you are going to shut down just know that it will take a short time for everything to get back into full running and communicating condition. Ialso expect that when you run live update right after startup there will be a batch of them to download and install :smileywink:

Keep us in the loop, we'll leave a light on

Hi looney,

Did you install the Norton DNS client on your PC or you manually set the DNS servers on Windows?

Thanks,

Greetings Dick,

Loved the reply, quite funny. You happen to work at Motel 6? Joking.

In regards to the one that couldn't get the dial tone, I've waited maybe 3-5 minutes with nothing. That's when I reboot, and all is well, (phone back on the hook), not a problem though.

As for live update, I never notice it, happens automatically.

Thanks Much

Fred

And thank you for the kudo.

No I don't work for that company. I'm employed by the local law enforcement department.

I'm glad you got a smile from it, that was part of the hope when I wrote it. Getting too serious about many things isn't good for physical or mental health.

As a matter of course I run live update right after I boot up. Two reasons, one I like the idea of having the latest protection installed and two, it keeps me from thinking that it's taking a long time for this thing to boot up :smileywink:
