Success!! Backup ran today without complaint with only ONE recovery point and I set new recovery point to Quarterly.
That is the way to do this. Don't know why the help file couldn't explain this with a couple of pictures.
Bazza

I am having trouble understanding incremental backups versus recovery points in Ghost 15 and seems I am not on my own.
I have all my personal files on a separate partition and am backing it up to a small drive which has limited space but I can happily backup once leaving plenty of room for incremental backups.
I have it scheduled to do the incremental backup every Thursday at 10am but it fails as there is not enough space as it is trying to start a new recovery point which I have set at Weekly.
Seems that 'new recovery point' means a new base so my understanding is that it should just delete the old base and create a new base.
I had set the number of recovery points to two and thought that setting it to one should force it to overwrite the original recovery point. Is this correct?
Once I understand how this works I sill set the new recovery point to Monthly or Quarterly.

It needs to be able to sucessfully create the second base image before it deletes the first. The setting is for how many to keep, if it first deleted the existing image it could be leaving you with none.

Dave

Thanks for your comment Dave. I am not concerned with the deletion of the image as that would only be for a few minutes until the new image is created. If that is the way it works I am more than happy. I just don't want to get an error that there is a problem due to insufficient space. I want just incremental backups.
The only reason I am asking this here is because the Help file for Ghost is extremely unhelpful on this subject and I appreciate any advice from members. Will wait and see what happens this Thursday with number of recovery points set to one and will report back if that succeeds.

Bazza
