Hi,

I've spent half a day trying to install Norton Ghost 15 on Vista w/out success.

The InstallShield Wizard installs Norton Ghost at about 75% completion and then stalls there although the green progress bar is been swiped over via a white phatom block.

This laptop had just Vista freshly re-installed with ALL updates from Microsoft.

Any ideas?

-Ron

Suggest that you check in the Programs and Features area and make sure that no part of Ghost is listed. Do a control panel uninstall if you find anything. It might not hurt to run the Norton Removal Tool found here:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us&lg=english&ct=united+states&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home&entsrc=redirect_pubweb just to be sure that there's nothing hiding in a dark corner.

Make sure that you have downloaded and installed all of Vista's updates. Reboot and try from the download site.

It took a good cleaning of the lens and the body to make it think all was well. A clean pad completed the process.

This may not help but that type of activity is usually mouse related. If you can go through the process mouse free and it works you will confirm that the mouse is mousing you around.

Ok, I tried again, but this time I made sure I didn't double click. And that gave me an error message saying that another instance was running. Couldn't see one on the taskbar, so I rebooted. Upon re-entering Windows, it automatically launched Norton Ghost and it ran okay. So, I guess the installation was completed despite the progress bar showing otherwise.

Thanks for your help.

-Ron
