That worked, the drums are updating on this thread overnight still.
You read the drums the opposite way you read a book, so bottom right hand corner to top left hand corner line by line, we will forget the scale.
The closest drums to CHCH are,
McQueens Valley (Closest)
Oxford
Rata Peaks
Lake Taylor
Waitaha Valley
Inchbonnie (Furthest)

The Quakes from sept 4th onwards look like costing 30 billion + to fix and rebuild.
"The two earthquakes will claim as much as 8 per cent of New Zealand's total GDP. Hurricane Katrina in the US came in at about 1 per cent of GDP, and the recent Queensland floods in Australia at 0.5 per cent.
The New Zealand quakes together would be the second most expensive natural disaster ever after Hurricane Ike, which struck the US coast in 2008 and cost $19.9bn"
The drums on page 4 of this thread are still updating.
And I found the G Force for the 2010 Chile 8.8 magnitude Earthquake, it's,
PGA Mag depth deaths
| 0.65g | 8.8 | 35 km | 521 | 2010 Chile earthquake |
It's been added to the Peak Ground Acceleration wiki page now

BBC news is reporting aftershocks of 7.4 in Japan. I watched the news film of the tsunami coming ashore and it was quite horrendous to see.

I can just hope that Earth will go sleeping for now a bit....
Did any of you read anything why Earth is so active in the last months? I unforutanetely did not see anything.
But it's so active that even by us, where only very very little quakes only happen in 1000 years...., there was a 4,7 earthquacke in last month.

90% + of the worlds Earthquakes happen around the "Ring of Fire" anyway, so it is nothing strange, who knows what happened around the Ring of Fire say 500 years ago, due to the civililations, technologies, global community etc. compared to today.
Todays Sendai Quake is only the 5th largest quake (Magnitude) recorded in History, it looks like the Tsumani has done more damage.
