I was at work that day and I didn't felt a thing Dave...People had alerted us to evacuate the office building and we stood outside for quite sometime and everything turned back to normal...But in coastal areas of chennai people felt the quakes(Indonesia earthquake) effect. Our work location in chennai on the quakes day.

At least it was a strike slip type and offshore,  You would not get a Tsunami with that type of fault,  and the distance means next to no damage.
