Correcting a link

I posted a reply and I used the wrong link address.  After clicking on Post, is there a way to correct the link or do I have to do like I ended up doing and just delete the old link and write a new link?

Re: Correcting a link

Hi PC_confused.

You can go back into your post and edit it for, I think, 1 hr after the post.  Go to the top right of your post (options) and you can select "edit reply".  When you are  back in the post you can edit or delete and replace as you wish, possibly using the HTML option.

Would that have helped?  I'm not clear what you post was and so cannot be sure.

Re: Correcting a link

Andmike, thank you for the reply and maybe I didn't express my question clearly enough.  Like you mentioned, I knew about being able to edit the post for about an hour later.  I created a reply to a post and in that reply I added the link to On-Line Chat service (www dot nortons dot com slash chat). After I posted the reply, I reread my post and tried the link.  That link took me to a motorcycle website..  I should have typed www dot norton dot com slash chat instead.  When I clicked on edit, to edit my post, I could not get the link to display.  I just ended up deleting the link and retyping it.  I was just wondering if there was a way to edit the link without deleting it?  Thanks again for the reply.

Re: Correcting a link

Hi PC_confused,

Welcome to the land of Lithium forums - if something makes sense - it will not work that way.

I have found links messed up quite a few times in my posts - and could not not change(changed/edit) them without deleting the links and inserting the new links.  I do not know if it issomething in IE9 causing it or not, as that is the browser I normally use here  (with Lithium).

I have gotten to the point of trying to remember to select Preview and then using  Ctrl while clicking on the link to ensure I am taken to the correct link before hitting post.   Sometimes I forget though (like using spell checker).  :smileymad:

If anyone figures it out - let me know!

If the link you want to correct is a phrase like:

Use this link to get to On-Line Chat

and you are within the edit period, just highlight the link, click on the Create Link Icon and that should come up with the link wording, the URL and where you want it displayed .....

Just checked and it works as described .... for me ....

Re: Correcting a link

yank - Thank you for the hint (preview and then CTRL) to review the post before I post it.  Might stop me from making more mistakes.  Since I'm only allowed one mistake per year, I hope to be able to remember that hint if I need it next year...:smileyvery-happy:

huwyngr - I didn't highlight then click on the link icon, I just clicked on the link then clicked on the link icon.  I'll try highlighting the link next time I make a mistake.:smileylol:
