Re: Forum Software Update

[ Edited ]

Fonts seem a little bigger on Norton Community page today--part of fix?--but could still stand too be larger.

Also as mentioned before the title of threads in a forum has problems,  For whatever reason not all of the title is showing. For example in the Title of the thread on the 17.5 update you can't see the info that  the thread was updated--so a user would have no reason to click on it.

The default font size for typing a message is 8pt. ---too small Should be 10pt.--Please!

Re: Forum Software Update

I would like to see the top or the Norton screen more compressed when opening up a 'Discuccussion Forum page..

Seem to be a lot of unneccessary white space..

1   'from symantec' could be beside 'Norton', so the depth could be reduced..

2   Down lower, the search bar and 'Goto, could be beside 'Board options' to reduce that area..

3   Under 'Announcements --  Could there be an option in 'My Settings', so that regular readers can disable the 'Welcome' message from appearing..(It's good for new readers, but I feel, unneccessary for regular users)..

Then the 'Links could be put on one row, reducing that area..

This would enable more Subjects etc., to show on the opening page.

Image below as I see it on my pc..

Re: Forum Software Update

Quick Update:

- Image Gallery is now visible on the user profile

- The tiny text that was in a few areas has been replaced by the Medium sized text

As for the text size for everything else being smaller than with the previous version, that might just be a trick of the eye. There is more text on the main pages, and the configuration is a bit different, but as you can see by the below screenshot, there is no difference in the text size between the previous version and the current version (my apologies for the crude screenshot, I was trying to get this posted quickly):

I'd be happy to discuss this further, if some are still not convinced that the text size remains the same.

And if I haven't said it already, thank you very much for letting us know about these issues. Some people might see this as frustrating or upsetting, but we recognize that you all have a lot invested on these forums. You want to be able to use them in the best possible way, and we want to keep that process running smoothly. Re: Forum Software Update

Hi! All, Before I start, I have not been able to read the whole thread; I get as far asit allows the last page of the thread and if I try to go to page one I get logged out but the area that states who is logged in says that I am still logged in when I am not. I do not find the site as straight forward as it used to be and when trying to load the site it takes alot longer to load than before the changes where made. The text is unreadable half the time (which I seen is already being worked on) and it is harder to locate things. Spell check does not work at all; an issue that was resolved in a previous version of the forum. I do like the reply message area of the site after I was able to find the reply button. I'll poke the site some more and maybe it will grow on me; who knows I might even get to like it the way I did the previous version.

Maybe so, but the perceived size is smaller, and the message test needs to be 10 point as the default.

BTW If, I change THE DEFAULT TEST SIZE TO LARGE  and try to type a message it does NOT work--this is broken. I HAVE TO SELECT A FONT SIZE FIRST.

IMHO, the default message size should be 10 point -please

Also the thread ttitles are still not totally visible some test is cut off, and for my money on the main community page the font size is still too small.

Re: Forum Software Update

Hi Tony,

Something else I noticed which I did not see mentioned until now. There used to be a selection on the leader board to select the time range for Kudo'd posts. You could select day, month, year, 6 months, 1 year and All.

Now there does not seem to be a selection so that you can see number of Kudo's per user for a specified time period. It seems you get just the default time period which looks like it is probably 1 month.

Am I missing something or was this unintentionally left out?

Thanks

Allen

Re: Forum Software Update

Hi AllenM,

I noticed that, too; I hope it is brought back again :-) Fortunately, since the German Norton Forum has got the same layout and has a Kudos Leaderboard on the main page, I experimented around with the URL and was able to find a direct link to the currently invisible Kudos Leaderboard over here:

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are now ready for take-off. We would like to remind you that smoking and flaming are prohibited on all boards of this forum. We wish you an enjoyable flight with Norton Airlines.

Re: Forum Software Update

Hi AllenM

Agree with you, all other options should be to the left of the 'View All'..

I find the quickest way to see other time periods is to click on View All, then other options appear at top of next page..

AS far as I can see. This difference is only seen with a widescreen. I can´t see it with nortmal screen

Re: Forum Software Update - urgent.

[ Edited ]

Hi Tony and others: The Forum is painfully slow, especially when viewing posts. There is no Toolbar available. My text will probably be squished together again, since it will not format properly. BTW - The font size is a real thing and I am using a widescreen. It does appear smaller even while typing this text - at least 10 point font is needed! - but the other things are maddening. How many other people are having this? How can I post here? :0

BTW - The drop-down box says that the above test is 10 point - perhaps 12 is needed? As I am editing this post the Formatting Toolbar is showing.
