Improving Norton Forum

[ Edited ]
Salutations,

"During your initial posts to this community, word verification is required for posting, replying, and editing. This is a security measure for new users to the forum, and is only a requirement for your initial posts." - Tony_Weiss

I do know why that word verification is there for but it is a little troublesome for people with parental control, like me.

If i have parental controls on, i am not able to see the word verification.

So whenever i wish to post, i'd have to turn off parental controls or set it to unrestricted.

Perhaps something can be done so that we can also see the word verification if we have parental controls on?

Just a small suggestion of mine. =)

PS : Parental Control on user under "Permitted Sites" list.

Sincerely,
Pikachu

Re: Improving Norton Forum

Try to add this site to the allowed list of Parental Control. That should help ;)

Re: Improving Norton Forum

Hello and thanks the the reply, Papauz.

Anyway, this site is already in the allowed list, or else i won't be able to enter it.

It's just that i have to set the parental control onto unrestricted to view the word verification when posting.

Sincerely,
Pikachu

Re: Improving Norton Forum

Correct.  Once a user is past the basest level, that verification is no longer needed.

Re: Improving Norton Forum

Hi Pikachu,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I see that you use our parental control. Was it essentially conflicting with the word verification a.k.a re-captcha? I tried to replicate this issue with Teen and Child user groups and the verification was just working fine. I'm trying to nail down the root cause of this issue and would help here if you can provide some additional information on this.

Thanks,

TomV

Re: Improving Norton Forum

Salutations, TomV.

Thanks for the reply. I am not using ther teen or child user group. I've set parental control to only allow "permitted sites", which is the sites that i allow.

It means that anyone using the computer can only enter the sites i've permitted.

Sincerely,
Pikachu

Hi pichaku,

Thank you for your prompt response.

After setting this to the permitted list, did you come across the problem that you mentioned. Let me check if I can replicate this problem.

Cheers,

Re: Improving Norton Forum

Greetings,

I am extremely sorry for the very late reply. (And i mean very late)

I do not have time to get onto the computer recently.

Perhaps i was not so clear about what i wrote, TomV.

I will be more specific.

Under Norton Internet Security's Parental & Privacy Control, i created a new account control.

Which means that i am using neither the Teen or Child group.

The settings of the new account control is : Only allow permitted sites.

And i do have community.norton.com under the permitted sites list but when i try posting, i cannot see the word verification.

It seems as if the word verification picture is not from community.norton.com and is from other source or website.

And i do not have that website which the word verification comes from, that is why i cannot see it.

But instead of the word verification picture, i see a text message. Which is "re-captcha" or something.

Sincerely,
Pikachu
