Hi huwyngr,

I don't think that you can access this forum via NNTP, but the RSS feeds seem to work quite nicely, and they should serve the purpose of tracking the posts in an offline reader.

Thanks -- I'm not doing RSS at present since I have an OLR but I might use here to check out RSS.

That's sad… Nothing beats nntp when you visit and lot of groups and want to keep track of threads. I'll really really miss it.

Good to find someone who appreciates it and knows what it is!

I use the new open source Virtual Access program -- VAOS -- which is being updated.

There are still a lot of forums that are mirrored on nntp. It really makes my life a lot easier. It also allows for offline reading, which is really convenient when you are travelling.

Maybe they'll hear us now we've mentioned it -- it's not as if there are adverts here that an OLR working text only would miss!

That was the argument on Compuserve when they were switching over to the current basis. I had to explain to the head honcho what NNTP was! And nothing more came of it.

Microsoft has had their (peer) support forums on nntp for years and years. They recently created http mirrors, but it still is only an interface to access the nntp groups.

I frequently visit these groups, and there is *no way* I'll ever migrate to the http version.

Correct
What's not in it right now won't say it won't be in it when forum is final

I agree especially once the volume grows.
