The time displayed is being updated (the Forum database) or 'refreshed' based on an active reply. The database is "refreshed" periodically not in real time. This is how the Forum allows posts from different time zones to appear at the same time, yet when both posters were replying there was no answer / reply post present to begin with.
The reply to a user's post forces a "unscheduled" update thus showing the new time.

Now I am really confused! This is the first time that the time has not updated to the time of my response in at least a few weeks. This is too weird!
Allen
Even more confusing is the fact that Allen's message showed he posted at 7:33 a.m. (my time) but I was last on-line at 6:45 a.m. (my time on 9 Nov) viewed a number of posts and sent a PM.

Not if the time was EDT (or whatever we are on now <g>) since I logged off about 2200 or before

Check with Allen K -- I'm sure it came up before
This was recently noted (prior to this thread) and is being studied. It does seem like last login is updated in error in some cases, but the exact source of the problem has not yet been pinpointed.

I've not done anything about the re-unread flag but then I've had no comment on others raised in Another Place ....

I went in and out of this thread 3 times and each time it was showing 2 unread posts but there wan't actually anything new in the thread each time I viewed. In the end I had to use the option to mark this thread as read in order to get rid of the unread indication.

Hi Allen K,
Except for those two occurences in this thread, it continues to hold true without exception that every time I respond to a user, their time of last logon/activity updates to *MY* time.
I post most frequently in the Other Products forum and I can send you tons of examples of this.
Is there anything I can do from my end to help troubleshoot this with you or help gather data so this can be resolved?
Yaso, earlier you said: "Yes, I've seen the same thing; and yesterday, when I was replying to a poster who was online but idle (or who had not logged out properly [simply closed the browser window instead of actually logging out]), said poster's time changed to reflect the time of my answer. So it not only happens with offline users, but also with "idle" "online" users. "
>>Yes, I've seen this too. I did not call this out specfically since it is harder to ascertain and prove if the update to their last activity time changed becase of my post, or just because they "happen" to become active in the session again. It's a bit more cut and dried when the other user's status shows Offline before and after. ![]()
Thanks much
Allen
