Re: Why do all the forum web pages take so long to load?

Stephen --

I think part of it may be the latest browsers -- I'm using IE 9 now but the problem was there in IE 8 too which I was using until about a week ago.

However I'm seeing similar but not as bad behavior over on Compuserve which is hosted by a different company to here.

I've tried compatability mode on and off and it doesn't seem to make much difference.

As Dick said, Norton Staff and the hosting company are both working to track it down and fix it.

Would be nice to hear about update status on this issue.  Just to be clear this problem is also in XP running IE7 and is not because of old hardware.

Norton Community website has slowed down

Over the past week or so, I have noticed that accessing this Norton Community website (and navigating to subsequent pages on the website) has got slower.  It takes typically up to 10 seconds (sometimes longer) for the website to come up (i.e. to finish its downloading process before being able to navigate).

I use IE8 running under Windows 7 64-bit on a "HP h8-1070uk" pc with 8GB memory and a 2 TB hard drive.  So... a pretty powerful machine.

It's only this Norton Community website that is slow to start and navigate - all the other websites I use come up very quickly (within 1 or 2 seconds) as they have always done.  It doesn't seem to correlate to any particular time of day either.

Has anybody else noticed this?

Re: Norton Community website has slowed down

YES!  I've seen it for several weeks.  Other forums I navigate regularly are much faster.

Re: Norton Community website has slowed down

Hello n2009user27 and nikki605 and I hope this information helps you.  There has been a lot of discussion about this slowdown problem, check this LINK in the Forum Feedback section.  You may even find your post has been moved to that post but if it is moved you will see a link letting you know where it was moved to.  It seems like when Norton added the links at the bottom of the page, things slowed way down.  Speeds are getting a little better, but not much.  Hope this helps explains the problem.

Re: Norton Community website has slowed down

The posts were moved which is fine.

Glad it isn't just me experiencing this problem. :smileywink:  I won't bother wasting time trying to troubleshoot a problem that isn't on my end.

Re: Norton Community website has slowed down

I understand people are saying one of the reasons the pages load slower is the links at the bottom of the page. Interesting...Has anyone clicked on these links. All the links under Products go to page not found :smileysurprised:
