Re: Norton Community website has slowed down

Hello Richard,

Yes, but even if you hit the "correct ring" if people are too lazy to get off their fat (deleted) and answer the phone - - you're going nowhere fast.  Anyhow, I'm still noticing stubborn slowness, fan running up, and freezes accessing this site with XP Professional and IE 7.  The time that it seemed like it was working better, I did not access the site at peak usage.  I think I'm going back to something Send mentioned about the "Lithium Connection".  I will explain why.  On that same computer, I went to Verizon's Online Discussion Forum (to petition for the FUNimation Channel which they foolishly removed off of their network) and it was disgustingly slow as well.  Come to find out, their forum is powered by Lithium as well.  Seems like all fingers are pointing at you, Lithium.  How will Norton address this?  Is there any conceivable way that Norton could switch to another provider, or, has Lithium become entrenched?  Why don't they use the same outfit that is behind Safe Web?  I can access that site virtually problem free with XP Professional and IE7.

P.S.- You all thought that I forgot about this post didn't you?

Why would we think that?

Well, it was some time since my last post.  Realistically, you're all private messaging each other that you wish I would just STOP contributing, lol.  You can be honest.  :catwink:

So you want honest

OK, here it is. Every participant that adds useful content to these forums enhances the community. Buckminster Fuller coined the word 'synergy' and defined it as the "whole is greater than the sum of its parts." We each do what we can to assist others and the result is enormous.

As for the private messages, I'm not aware of your name being mentioned in any that I've received [sorry to burst your bubble]

Honest enough?

I may regret saying this but ..... has anyone else noted that the Norton Community website seems to have come back to a passable speed?     :smileysurprised:

Ah, ‘synergy’.  Reminds me of language employed by those “stuffed shirts” at University.  Luckily, I am of the “school of thought” put forth by Floyd.  Maybe you are familiar with that prestigious body of scholarship?  It is entitled, “We DON’T need no education”.  Furthermore, it discusses dark sarcasm in the classroom.

Interesting.  Then the question becomes, “Are my posts value-added enough for my continued participation?”  Answer me that Mr. Richard Evans, Guru!

Most assuredly, the air has been deflated out of my clown head balloon a long time ago.

Hi,

Been there too, and done that. The tee shirt is a bit old and torn now, and I think it's shrunk a size or two as well. I've found that wisdom tends to serve better than education or learning.

The 'Guru' comes when you try to help. It provides you with a grreater responsibility to do well. I still haven't worked out if it was a reward or a punishment. :smileylol: It has allowed me to do more here. Being a guru allows me to work harder and longer for the same pay [the usual for volunteers]
I say they are. Others have not voiced an opinion so we'll let it stand at that.

Hi Dick,

I hope you know throughout those last couple of posts I was primarily joking.  Although I can be serious, much of what I say is nothing more than over-glorified bombast commentary not to be taken too seriously.  I'm just glad that I didn't completely get your knickers in a knot.

Regards,

H.B.
