New Forum Problem

[ Edited ]

There appears to have been a recent forum software update and along with it a new problem. :smileysurprised:

When doing a keyword search on the forum the results page starts off with (as an example)  "1 - 10 of 20 discussions". Then as you click on each subsequent page number the total number of results changes each time. So for example I click on page 2 and now it says "11 -20 of 26 discussions", etc. Also the total number of pages always seems to start off showing 2 pages total when it really could be significantly more. The previous forum software version would show something like "1 2 .... 35" to indicate there are 35 total pages.

This problem did not exist prior to the last update. I'm sure of this because I do lots of searches in the forum.

Side Note: Overall I do like the layout of the new search results page but it creates a real problem not to able to know up front how many total posts matched the search criteria.

Thanks

Allen

Re: New Forum Problem

Another related problem to report on this same issue.

When the search results page comes up it NO longer shows the username of the person who made the post in the results list. This should also be fixed.

Thanks much

Allen

Re: New Forum Problem

AllenM, what browser are you using? I just tested the search results and I am able to see the username listed alongside.

Hi shannons

I have the same issue as AllenM is experiencing when doing searches. I am using IE8.

Hi Shannon,

I'm using the same as mdturner, IE8. Are you seeing the first problem I mentioned?

Thanks much

Re: New Forum Problem

mdturner and AllenM, let me just clarify...are you talking about the user name appearing in the search results? For example in the first Search result it says Email Scan Thunderbird followed by joelw135 in Norton for Mac?

Perhaps, I'm misunderstanding the issue....

Re: New Forum Problem

Yes, Allen, I am able to see your issue. A user is unable to tell definitively how many pages are listed. Checking into this....

Re: New Forum Problem

Hi Shannon,

I stand corrected. I now can see the username for each post but it is very hard to see because of the color used. The color of the username blends so closely to the background it is really hard to see. I literally missed it altogether until you questioned the issue which made me look much closer. :smileysurprised::smileywink:

Might I suggest a color which contrasts with the background a bit more?

Thanks much

Allen

Hi shannons

You are right (but thename is not very clear) but, if we take that as an example, it is showing there are 4 replies to that post. Previously a search showed the all of the posts in that thread with the poster's name beside it. That made it much easier to find a particular post by scanning down the full list.

Yep, they look like bugs to me. I've submitted these for review, and they should be resolved soon. Thanks!
